Title: HR Generalist

Reporting to Director, Human Resources, North America

Location: San Jose, California, USA

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time HR Generalist to join our growing team! Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Generalist will be based at our San Jose office and provide HR support ranging from benefits administration to recruitment to performance management to employee relations. In addition, the HR Generalist will manage the HR/Training component in the quality management process for North America.[AG1]

What you’ll do:

  • Act as liaison between the business and Human Resources - implement and administer global and local HR programs and policies for the US including but not limited to performance management, annual compensation reviews etc.
  • Act as first point of contact for employees in the US – resolve any questions and or concerns related to company policies, benefits, training, leaves of absences, payroll, SAGE/VC View.
  • Benefit administration for US employees – answer questions, update benefit portals, run education sessions.
  • Manage all leaves of absences including STD, LTD and workers compensation.
  • Support in the processing of immigration applications immigration for employees transferring to the USA.
  • Support the Talent Acquisition Specialist in recruiting roles for the San Jose office – this can include screening and assessing candidates, reference checking, liaising with agencies and drafting of offer letters.
  • Act as back up for onboarding of new hires, run general information sessions, conduct check in with new hires to ensure successful onboarding. Offboard employees.
  • Provide guidance to managers on all HR related matters – conduct exit interviews for the San Jose office as required.
  • Manage and execute HR/Training documentation as it relates to the company’s quality management system/process for all of North America.[AG2]
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention, oversee employee events.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance with OHSA and other legislation.
  • Oversee ad-hoc office duties/events as required.
  • Manage specific projects and take on additional tasks as determined by Director, Human Resources.

What you’ll need:

  • University degree in HR or related discipline with a combination of 3 + years
  • Experience in the medical device industry is an asset.
  • Knowledge and expertise in HR policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of employee benefit programs and administration
  • A strong understanding of best practices and current regulations specific to HR.
  • Excellent judgement and problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven track record of conflict management/resolution.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and maintains excellent follow-through and follow-up.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable, agile, and able to excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
