2020's Hottest Trends and the Technology Behind Them

As aesthetic trends ebb and flow, the technology used to achieve these physical goals continues to develop. The result is often a faster, more efficient treatment with less discomfort and better outcomes for patients. Here’s a closer look at some of 2020’s hottest and most highly searched trends in medical aesthetics and the technology used to provide those services.

Hair Removal

Nearly everyone has unwanted body hair, but removing it regularly can be time-consuming, messy, and even painful. That’s why many people seek long-term hair removal solutions that are effective and relatively painless. In fact, in 2015 over 1 million hair removal procedures were performed. The phrase “hair removal” is searched on Google over 33,000 times per month—this trend isn’t going anywhere.

Both laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal work by heating up the hair follicle to damage it, which slows growth and can eventually prevent it. IPL devices use broad-spectrum visible light, while laser hair removal techniques may use one color of light and can travel deeper into the follicle.

Venus Concept offers three options for hair removal: Venus Velocity™, Venus Versa™, and Venus Epileve™. Each one uses cutting-edge technology to provide patients with a fast, comfortable experience, and no downtime.

Acne Treatment

Acne is one of the most common skin disorders in the United States, affecting up to 50 million people every year. Approximately 60,000 users are looking for acne treatment options on Google every month. As a result, many medical providers and aestheticians now offer acne treatment to their patients.

The Venus Versa™ multi-treatment system (more information about this below!) offers an AC Dual IPL applicator that targets both the cause and the visible symptoms of acne, resulting in greater clinical outcomes and higher patient satisfaction. The AC dual IPL applicator combines both blue and red light simultaneously with each pulse. The blue light targets and destroys the bacteria that causes acne, while the red light promotes faster healing and reduces inflammation.

Hair Restoration

Approximately 50 million men and 30 million women suffer from hair loss in the U.S. alone.  Many are unhappy with their hair loss but want solutions that are less invasive than traditional restoration methods. In a typical month, 50,000 people are searching Google for “hair transplants” with another 18,000 searching for the term “hair restoration.”

One of the latest developments in hair restoration technology is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Unlike other methods of hair restoration, with FUE, hair follicles are removed individually, which produces no linear scar and allows for a quicker recovery time than traditional methods. FUE also helps the implantation of the follicles match the participant’s natural hair growth for optimal outcomes.

There are many FUE devices available, and your selection plays a big part in determining how you stack up against other providers. Exclusive to Venus Concept is VERO Hair™, the world’s most comprehensive hair restoration solution that combines the robotic ARTAS® and the automated NeoGraft® with a full range of post-sale support programs, tools, and services to help you grow your business.

Photofacial Treatments

While skin discoloration and redness are common, nearly three in four adults are bothered by these imperfections. There are thousands of Google searches every month for these photorejuvenation treatments that reduce the appearance of unwanted pigment and redness through IPL technology. In fact, 10,000 people search for the term “IPL photofacial” and 8,000 for “photofacial” each month.

Venus Concept’s Venus Versa™ device is a multi-treatment platform with three different, highly effective technologies in one workstation to address today’s most challenging aesthetic concerns. You can choose from two different IPL photorejuvenation applicators with varying wavelengths to treat a wider range of skin types.  Our IPL applicators deliver energy directly to targeted areas of the skin, treating vascular and pigmented lesions. To maximize patient comfort, our device uses Smartpulse™ technology and a real-time cooling system to provide precise energy delivery with no downtime. In addition, you can combine with a range of other applicators to increase the types of treatments you can offer at your practice.

Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite affects nearly nine out of 10 women, and for many of them it is one of the biggest aesthetic concerns. More than 33,000 Google searches are conducted for “how to get rid of cellulite,” and 12,000 for “cellulite treatment” each month. The good news? Technological advances have made it easier to treat cellulite than ever before.

Venus Legacy™, Venus Bliss™, and Venus Versa™ use RF and PEMF to shrink fat cells and reduce the appearance of cellulite in a non-invasive manner. These methods can also tighten skin and reduce overall circumference. Additionally, the VariPulse™ technology featured in Venus Legacy™ and Venus Bliss™ can temporarily boost lymphatic drainage and increase blood circulation. The result is smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin.
