What Is NeoGraft and How Can It Grow Your Business

According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) 2017 Practice Census, more than 635,000 hair restoration procedures were performed in 2016 alone. That’s a 60% increase in total hair restoration procedures over 2014, which was the last year the census was performed. In addition, there was a 67% increase in surgical procedures. The level of demand for hair restoration shows steady growth, particularly over the last couple of years. Hair rejuvenation treatments are a lucrative market for medical aesthetic professionals. While there are a range of surgical and non-surgical hair restoration procedures in the market, NeoGraft® is a standout. Discover what sets NeoGraft® apart and how this could benefit your medical aesthetics business.

What Is NeoGraft®?

Hair restoration procedures can generally be divided into two methods: follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE). Both methods remove hair follicles from the donor area along the back and side of the head. The main difference between the two processes is that FUT procedures use a scalpel to surgically remove a strip of hair from the back of the scalp. It is then divided into follicular units that are implanted in the recipient areas. In comparison, typical FUE procedures extract hair follicles directly from the scalp in their naturally-occurring groups, generally containing one to three hairs, without having to remove a strip from the scalp. The grafts are sorted by the number of hairs they each contain so that when they are implanted, a natural feathered appearance is obtained. The grafts are also implanted at the natural angle that they would grow in the scalp.

Although FUT can be effective, it is a much more invasive procedure, which results in a linear scar with more discomfort during the post-operative recovery. In comparison, FUE is minimally invasive, not requiring donor-site suture removal and resulting in a shorter recovery time.

What Makes NeoGraft® Different?

NeoGraft® hair restoration uses a miniaturized rotary coring device that initially mobilizes the follicular unit, by separating it from the surrounding tissue. Once the graft has been adequately mobilized, gentle pressure is applied to remove it from the scalp, keeping it intact and undamaged. Using a highly ergonomic mechanical system, the NeoGraft® device acts as a natural extension of the operator’s hand. Accurate harvesting of hair follicles while creating and counting recipient sites is a key component of the NeoGraft® device. The device also features an implantation tool that assists with the placement of grafts in created recipient sites. The goal for the patient is to achieve an optimal result with less downtime and with minimal scarring.

How NeoGraft® Can Benefit Your Business

Demand for hair restoration procedures is expected to stand strong with a potential target market of about 80 million Americans—a quarter of the American population—experiencing hereditary hair loss. Add to this number those who experience hair loss due to other causes. Due to the significant opportunity, incorporating NeoGraft® hair restoration into your practice is a clear choice, especially true for those medical aesthetic clinics specializing in aesthetic treatments that focus on hair. NeoGraft® has a well-established, high patient satisfaction rate, which is documented with a lineup of high-quality before-and-after images.
